CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College football team suffered a 19-14 loss to #15/#14 Wartburg College on Saturday afternoon in its final game of 2022. The Kohawks and Knights played a tightly contested game that featured just three touchdowns and a pair of field goals. Wartburg scored the opening points of the game, kicking a field goal as time expired in the first quarter but Coe took the lead moments later on a
Ray Seidel touchdown. Wartburg, which missed a field goal try late in the second quarter, came out with back-to-back touchdowns in the third and never looked back, withstanding a late charge from Coe in the fourth period to claim the A-R-C Championship. The loss drops Coe to 7-3 overall and 6-2 in the A-R-C while Wartburg improves to 10-0 and 8-0 in the league.

- Carter Maske was 21-of-39 passing on the day, totaling 179 yards and one touchdown. The junior, who was sacked two times, connected with six different receivers during the game and had a long play of 22 yards. The long play also resulted in his lone touchdown of the afternoon, connecting with Dominic Shepardson in the corner of the endzone for a 22-yard score.
- Ray Seidel handled the rushing duties for Coe, carrying the ball 27 times for a total of 83 yards and one touchdown. The junior running ends the year with over 600 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Dominic Shepardson continued to be Coe's best offensive threat, catching 10 passes for a team-high 106 yards and one touchdown. Shepardson, who set a new school record for receptions in a single season, ends the year with 79 catches, 857 yards and eight scores. Amel Savic was second on the team with five catches, totaling 38 yards while Zamari Bruce and Seidel each caught two balls.
- The Kohawk defense played an outstanding game once again despite the defeat, holding Wartburg to its season-low in points. The defense was led by junior linebacker Ben Adelsberger who finished with a team-high 11 solo tackles. Darrius Saunders was second on the defense with eight stops while Bridger Aucutt, Jay Oostendorp and Ben Ridenour added six each. The Kohawks had just one tackle for loss from Oostendorp and one sack from Stone Cummins in the game. Oostendorp also came up with an important play on special teams, blocking an extra point on Wartburg's third touchdown.
