KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Coe College men's tennis team suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat at non-conference opponent Kalamazoo College on Saturday. Kalamazoo took a slight 2-1 advantage after doubles play, winning 8-7 at number one and 8-6 at number two doubles to grab the early lead. Coe battled back in singles, splitting the six matches with the hosts but eventually falling just one team point short. The loss drops Coe to 3-2 on the season while Kalamazoo improves to 2-0 in 2022. 
 
Coe salvaged just one point in doubles as Jon Lansing and Harry Hawbaker picked up an important 8-4 victory at number three to keep things close heading into singles. Rami Hemaidan bounced back in singles from his first doubles loss of the season, securing a victory at number one for the Kohawks. Lansing and Alex Palomar picked up the final two points for Coe in singles, winning matches at number two and number six.
