GAME ONE
GRINNELL 3 - COE 2
Game Facts
  • The Kohawks got the scoring started in the second inning, getting three hits and a pair of runs to jump ahead. Keera Ball led off with a triple and immediately scored on a double from Shaylee Dodd. Later in the inning, Coe had one runner on with two down as Addie Menke reached on a fielder's choice. After stealing second, Menke scored on a Nicki Wood single with the senior giving Coe a 2-0 lead.
  • Grinnell began to climb its way back into the game in the fourth after a scoreless third inning, getting one run thanks to a hit and an error from Coe. A one-out single drove home the first run of the game for the Pioneers, cutting Coe's lead to just one. The charge continued for Grinnell in the top of the fifth, taking advantage of three Kohawk errors while scoring two more runs. Both runs for Grinnell came on RBI singles but the Kohawks limited the damage, stranding the bases loaded with back-to-back groundouts.
