CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College softball team split a pair of games with Nebraska Wesleyan on Senior Day at Clark Field falling 4-3 in the opener while winning 3-0 in game two. The Kohawks fell behind in the opening game in the third inning as the Prairie Wolves scored the first three of the contest. NWU added a key insurance run in the top of the sixth which proved to be crucial as Coe would score three runs in the final two innings. The Kohawks got a pitching gem in game two from
Hannah Ausenhus, as the junior tossed a one-hit shutout to lead Coe to the split. The Kohawks a solo homer from
Madi Parson, her second of the day, in the third inning to cement the lead. The split moves Coe to 19-11 overall and 8-6 in the A-R-C while Nebraska Wesleyan moves to 18-11 and 6-6 in the league.

Game Facts
- It was scoreless in the opening two innings despite the visitors threatening the top of the second with bases loaded. The Prairie Wolves broke through in the third, getting a three-run homer with two outs to grab the early lead.
- Coe put runners on first and second in the bottom of the inning but the Prairie Wolves avoided the damage with a line out to first base. The game again went scoreless until the top of the sixth when NWU scored its insurance run on a RBI-single with two outs.
- The Kohawks answered with two runs in the bottom, getting a two-run blast from Parson who drove home Heather Boeckenstedt from second. Coe continued the comeback charge in the bottom of the seventh, getting a solo homer from Bree Mangelsen but the Kohawks left a runner on second with a lineout again to first to end the game.

Game Facts
- The Kohawks took the early lead in the second game, getting one run in the top of the first. Boeckenstedt led off with a double and was later joine by Natalie Blank and Parson who reached on free passes.
- Ausenhus dominated from the jump, retiring the side in the first while facing just one extra batter in the second and third. The Kohawks got their hurler two more insurance runs in the bottom of the third on a solo homer from Parson and an RBI single from Gabrielle Buckridge. Coe got hits from Parson, Mangelsen, Nicki Wood and Buckridge in the inning while grabbing Ausenhus a 3-0 lead.
- The lead proved plenty for the Hanlontown native who struck out just one but forced weak contact for the remainder of the game, allowing the only hit in the top of the third.
Up next: Coe returns to the field next Wednesday, April 27 to host its final home doubleheader of the regular season against Cornell College. The Bremner Cup series begins at 2 PM.
