ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Coe College volleyball team opened its 2022 season with an emphatic 3-0 victory over St. Norbert College on Friday evening. The Kohawks dominated their first match of the new campaign, hitting .316 overall and over .400 in the final two sets.
Grace Lueken paced the squad with 10 kills and zero errors, attacking an impressive clip of .667.

Maggie Furlong each chipped in with eight kills while freshman setter
Maddy Maahs posted 29 assists in her collegiate debut. With the win, Coe opens the season 1-0 while St. Norbert drops to 0-2 overall.

- The Kohawks hit just .156 in the opening set but the Green Knights recorded only seven kills in the frame, allowing Coe to jump ahead. Lueken had four kills in while Parson and Tidman added three apeice to lead the Kohawks to a 1-0 advantage.
- Coe dominated the second frame, hitting .474 with 12 kills and just three errors. Defensively, the Kohawks held the Green Knights to .095, forcing an additional six errors. Lueken continued her strong start to the game, tallying three more kills in the period. Tidman had four service aces for the Kohawks including the set-clinching point which gave her team take a 2-0 lead.
- It was more domination from the Kohawks in the third and final set, taking down the Green Kights 25-18 to secure the victory. Coe posted another impressive hitting percentage, attacking at a rate of .452 with 16 kills and two errors. St. Norbert had a match-high 13 kills in the third set but Coe got two kills and an ace from Lueken to get past the Green Knights.
Up next: The Kohawks return to action this afternoon when they take on UW-Stevens Point and Bethel in their final two games of the Kathryne Pals Legacy Invitational.
