Football hands Buena Vista 52-7 defeat at Clark Field

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College football team picked up its fifth win of the regular season on Saturday afternoon at Clark Field, handing Buena Vista a 52-7 defeat. The Kohawks got on the board quickly in the first quarter, scoring just over two minutes in on a touchdown pass to Amel Saric. Coe surrendered the lone touchdown for BVU on the next possession but the hosts answered with 21 points over the final moments of the first half. The Kohawks continued to pile in the third quarter, scoring three more touchdowns, two of which came on the ground. Coe ended the scoring in the final period, converting a 31-yard field goal try to make it 52-7.

GAME FACTS
  • Carter Maske was 10-of-13 passing in the win, going for 190-yards and four touchdowns. The senior is now up to 1339 passing yards and 17 passing touchdowns. Maske had a long pass of 60 yards, hitting Jeron Senters for a lengthy score in the opening quarter. 
  • Coe rushed for 290 yards in the win, with five different Kohawks posting at least 40 yards. Caden Mata had a team-high 83 yards, posting a long run of 30-yards to lead the squad. Jacob Brecht, Trenton Barnes and Ray Seidel all recorded rushing touchdowns in the win, bringing Coe's season total to nine. 
  • Jeron Senters exploded in his first collegiate start at wide receiver, leading the corp with four catches, 113-yards and two touchdowns. Amel Saric also joined in on the touchdown party, recording his fourth and fifth scores of the campaign. 
  • As a defense, Coe limited Buena Vista to only 152 total yards and nine first downs. The Kohawks had nine tackles for loss, being led by Jay Oostendorp who had 2.5 with one sack. Ben Adelsberger and Oostendorp led the team in overall tackles, finishing with six each. Coe also came up with a pair of interceptions as LaDainian Linnear and Jack Shaw picked off BVU passes. 
 
Up next: Coe returns to action next weekend, hitting the road again for an A-R-C contest at Simpson College on Saturday, October 14 at 1 PM.
