CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's basketball team returned from the short holiday break with a bang on Saturday afternoon at Kohawk Arena, racing past Edgewood College 98-56 for the team's third win in a row. The Kohawks were on fire from the opening whistle, shooting 68.4 percent from the field as a team while hitting their highest point total of the season. Coe was also excellent defensively, forcing 17 Eagle turnovers which it turned into 26 points.
Josh Schloe and
Bennett Sherry led the impressive offensive display for the Kohawks, leading the team and setting new career highs with 22 points each. Sherry's offensive effort was flawless on the evening, becoming the first Kohawk men's basketball player to post a perfect shooting percentage with at least eight makes as the sophomore was 10-of-10 from the field.

- The teams combined for 24 points in the first four-plus minutes of the game, each hitting all but one shot in the early going. The Kohawks finally picked up the defensive pressure and put together a short run, getting a 6-2 spurt which included a 3 from Ryan Dolphin. Edgewood hung around for the next few minutes, staying hot from the floor as the visitors trailed 25-24 midway through the half. The Kohawks pulled away during the final nine minutes of the frame, ripping off a 21-11 run to end the period. TJ Schnurr and Cael Schmitt spurred the run with six and five points each while Sherry and Schloe added four each. The intensity from Coe continued to start the second half, outscoring the Eagles 14-5 in the first 4:46 to push the advantage to 20. Schloe and Sherry dominated the next four minutes of play, combining for a 14-5 run to put the game away for good.
