RV Men’s Basketball hangs on for road win at Simpson

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The (RV) Coe College men's basketball team picked up its second A-R-C win in as many tries on Wednesday evening, defeating the Simpson College Storm 82-75 at Cowles Fieldhouse. Simpson jumped out to a lead in the opening half, using an early 18-11 run to grab control. The Kohawks snapped back after the slow start, erasing the deficit before the midway point of the half. Coe went on to dominate the closing 12 minutes of play, edging the Storm 22-12 to grab a double-digit lead at the half. Simpson quickly made the game close in the second half, starting the period with nine of the opening 11 points to draw within four of Coe's lead. Cael Schmitt and TJ Schnurr then took over for the Kohawks, putting the game away with an impressive stretch where they combined for 18 points in eight minutes. The big stretch put Coe back in front by double-digits with just over five minutes to play and despite a late flurry from Simpson, the Kohawks hung on for the victory to stay unbeaten in league play. Schnurr proved to be Coe's most dominant player from start to finish, finishing with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists while going 11-of-18 from the floor. Schmitt (18) and Brady Klahn (15) joined Schnurr in double figures while Bennett Sherry finished with nine points, six boards and two assists.
