ORLANDO, Fla. - The Coe College baseball team ended its Florida trip with a bang on Saturday, exploding for 27 runs and 23 hits in a 27-10 seven-inning victory over Bethel University. The Kohawks scored in every frame during the game and got hits from every player who recorded an at-bat. Nine Coe hitters registered an RBI in the monumental victory over the Royals with three players posting four or more runs batted in.
Tyler Elliott,
Tyler Bayless and
Reid Rausch led the team with five, four and four RBI respectively, combining for 10 of Coe's 23 hits.
Gavin Guns, Jake Brosius, Tyce Johnson, Creighton Kreshel and
Kaden Haller all joined the leading trio with multiple hits in the game while
James VanHooser and
Kevin Lamb added one knock each.
Nolan Schroeder gave up four runs in the first inning but responded well, earning his first win of the season after four-plus innings of work. Coe, which posted a 7-2 record during its spring break trip, extends its win streak to three and improves to 8-4 overall while Bethel drops to 8-3 on the year.

- The Kohawks got the party started right from the jump, getting a pair of runs in the first on a two-out single from Bayless. Schroeder ran into immediate trouble after a quick groundout, allowing four-straight to reach including a two-RBI double which gave Bethel a 3-1 lead. The Royals added one more run on a wild pitch but the freshman avoided any further damage with a groundout and strikeout. The bats picked up their pitcher in the second, answering with six hits and five runs to regain a lead. Haller and VanHooser singled with one out and were driven in by Guns who delivered a two-run single to tie it at four. The Kohawks made it 6-4 later in the frame on a two-run double by Johnson. Bethel made a pitching change with one out but Coe added one more run before the end of the third, getting an RBI single from Rausch who drove home Johnson.
- Schroeder worked a 1-2-3 inning in the second and immediately put his team back at the plate. Coe added another run in the frame, seeing Elliott score on a wild pitch after leading off with a double. Bethel got one back in the bottom, getting a two-out single to draw withing three runs of Coe. The Kohawks, who responded with a run in the fourth, exploded for seven in the fifth. Brosius and Elliott picked up RBI singles during the onslaught while three runs came around to score on errant pitching from the Royals.
- Bethel scored three runs in the bottom of the inning, responding to keep themselves within touching distance at 16-8. Coe put the game away for good in the sixth, scoring five more runs on four hits. Rausch, Bayless and Elliott registered RBI hits in the spurt while Haller drove home a run with a sacrifice fly. The Royals final runs came in the bottom of the frame, scoring their final two on a two-out homer that made it 21-10. The Kohawks put six additional runs on the board in the top of the seventh, registering five hits including RBI knocks from Rausch, Kreshel, Elliott and Lamb.
Up next: The Kohawks are back in action next weekend for their first A-R-C series of the year, hosting Central at Daniels Park on March 24 and March 25.
