CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 to Augustana on Saturday afternoon in the team's 2023 opener. The Kohawk women fell behind in doubles play, suffering a pair of defeats at number one and number two. Maria Bello Escobar and Courtney Carstensen salvaged one point for Coe in doubles, earning an 8-5 decision at number three to get their team on the board. The Vikings continued their strong play into singles, winning five of six matches to secure the victory. Coe's lone win came from Courtney Carstensen at the number five spot with the freshman grabbing a 6-3, 6-2 win. The loss drops Coe to 10-2 on the season while Augustana improves to 7-5.
