WAVERLY, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team kept its unblemished A-R-C record intact on Saturday morning, picking up a 5-4 victory over Wartburg College. The Kohawks had a strong start in the match, picking up a pair of doubles wins to go ahead after the initial competition.
Graham Peterson/Ivan Burt-Smith improved to 2-0 in conference doubles play, defeating Wartburg's top pairing 8-4.
Jordan Oaks/Grant Idoux gave Coe the 2-1 advantage with a win at number two doubles, winning 8-3 to secure their first A-R-C victory of the year. Peterson, Burt-Smith and Idoux picked up their second wins for Coe in the singles competition, claiming victories at number two, three and five singles to give Coe a 5-4 victory. With the win, the Kohawks improve to 10-5 overall and 3-0 in the league while Wartburg drops to 6-16 and 1-1 in the A-R-C.
