DECORAH, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team saw its 2022-23 season come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling 5-2 to Luther College in the American Rivers Conference AQ title match. Coe, which took on top-seed Luther in the championship for the second-straight season, fell behind quickly in the match as the hosts earned wins in all three doubles matches. The Norse got a strong 8-2 win at no. 1 but were tested at no. 2 and 3, pulling out 8-4 and 8-6 wins to grab a 3-0 lead before singles. Coe responded in singles, getting a pair of wins from
Maddie Schultz and
Maria Bello Escobar who took down their opponents at no. 1 and no. 6. Luther finished the job at no. 2 and no. 4 singles, earning the final two points to claim the tournament championship while earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
