CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team split a pair of matches over the weekend at the Clark Racquet Center, earning a 7-2 victory over A-R-C opponent Wartburg before dropping a narrow 5-4 decision to North Park University. The Knights got the day started with a solid result in doubles, earning a 2-1 advantage after claiming victories at number one and number three doubles. Coe responded in a major way in singles, winning all six matches to pull off the come-from-behind victory.
Maddie Schultz earned a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory at the top spot for the Kohawks and was later followed by a three-set victory from
Carlie Miller who erased an early one-set deficit. Coe fell behind in its second match of the day as well, dropping two of three doubles matches with the lone victory coming from
Courtney Carstensen and
Chloe Palmer. The hosts did their best to complete another comeback victory in singles, securing three wins but the Vikings managed to split the decisions to secure the match.
Up next: Coe will be back on the courts on Wednesday, September 13 for an A-R-C match against the University of Dubuque at 4 PM in Dubuque, Iowa.
