CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team put a pause on its championship Fall season last week and was in action at a pair of individual tournaments, competing at the ITA Regional Championships hosted by UW-Whitewater and the ITA Alternative hosted by Gustavus.
Maddie Schultz and
Alliandra Hagness competed for the Kohawks at the ITA Regional Championships, each winning one singles match before dropping out of the tournament. Schultz earned a bye in the opening round and secured a 6-2, 6-1 victory before a narrow 1-6, 7-6, 10-8 defeat in the round of 32. The pair teamed up in the doubles competition and lost their lone match, falling 8-3 in the round of 64.
Sophia Fain was a standout for Coe at the ITA Alternative, winning the consolation bracket of Singles Draw #1 with a 2-1 record.
Courtney Carstensen also earned a consolation bracket victory, going 2-1 in the Singles Draw #5.
Jaden Fuqua and
Maria Bello Escobar joined their teammates in the top their of their respective flights, finishing runner-up in the Singles Draw #6 and #7. Fain and
Carlie Miller also made headlines in doubles play for the Kohawks, bringing home the title in the Doubles Draw #1 flight.

Up next: The Kohawks return to regular-season action on Friday, September 29, traveling to Lincoln for an A-R-C match against Nebraska Wesleyan.
