STORM LAKE, Iowa - The (RV) Coe College men's basketball team picked up its second-straight road win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Buena Vista 81-71 on the road. The Kohawks began the game well, building a 10-point lead across the opening 15 minutes of action. The Beavers fought back before the end of the half, scoring 12 of the final 16 points to trim Coe's lead to just 35-34 at the break. The Kohawks regained control of the contest in the second half, outscoring the hosts 18-9 in the first 4:53. Coe saw its lead quickly disappear as the Beavers put together another run to take a 54-52 lead just under eight minutes into the half. The visitors answered with a big run to reclaim momentum, edging Buena Vista 19-8 to grab a 73-60 lead with five minutes to play. Coe, which hit six 3s in the second half, shot 64.3 percent from the floor and got 13 and 12 points from
Cael Schmitt and
TJ Schnurr. Schmitt and Schnurr finished with 21 and 20 points respectively and were joined by
Cooper Nailor in double-digits as the sophomore finished with 11 points.

- Coe and Buena Vista traded points early on as Schnurr and Schmitt started early with five and four points respectively. The Kohawks stretched the lead to eight during the next four minutes, ripping off a 10-5 run that featured buckets from four different players. Coe maintained its lead over the following phase, leading 31-22 with 4:11 after a jumper from Schmitt. Buena Vista closed the half with a dominant 12-4 stretch, limiting the Kohawks to just two field goals over the final 4:11. The hosts continued to ride the momentum in the second half, cutting the deficit to just one less than three minutes in. Coe ripped off a quick answer, scoring 13 of the next 18 points including five each from the dynamic duo. Buena Vista refused to give in, putting together its own 10-5 run in the next four minutes to cut the lead to just four at 59-55. The Kohawks put the game away with an impressive shooting stretch, going 5-of-6 from the floor to kickstart a 14-5 run. The run, which included five points from Ryan Dolphin, gave Coe a 73-60 lead with 4:59 to play. BVU managed to outscore Coe in the closing moments, getting within 10 points in the final minute but never threatened the Kohawk lead.
