Fain wins A singles, Women's Tennis claims nine medals at A-R-C Individual Championships

PELLA, Iowa – The Coe College women's tennis team concluded its fall season on Saturday, competing in the final day of A-R-C Individual Championship action. The Kohawk women excelled up and down the brackets, claiming nine of the possible 21 medals from the championships. Sophia Fain highlighted the singles efforts, claiming the gold medal in the A Singles flight with a perfect 4-0 record, defeating Julianna Mascardo 5-3, 5-3 in the championship match. Addison Leasure took home the bronze medal in the same flight, falling to her teammate Fain 2-4, 4-2, 7-10 in the semifinal matchup before a win in the consolation final. Cosette Gaines secured Coe's other medal in singles play, taking the bronze in the C Singles flight. The Kohawks secured medals in all three doubles flights, getting the silver medals in the A and B flights and the bronze medal in the C flight. Alice Tysoe and Sophia Fain secured a pair of victories in the top doubles flight to earn a place in the final before falling 6-4 to Luther's Julia Moren and Allie Christensen. Gaines paired with Jaden Fuqua in the B Doubles flight, securing her second medal of the championships with a second-place finish. Carlie Miller and Isabella Castle concluded the medal-winning performances for the Kohawks in the C doubles flight, placing third with a 6-3 win in the consolation final.
