INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Coe College men's soccer team fought until the final whistle but could not overcome an early three-goal deficit, falling 3-2 to Simpson College. The Kohawks conceded a pair of goals in the opening half as the Storm found the back of the net in the 15th minute and added another late in the period in the 42nd. The hosts added another to their lead early in the second half, scoring in the 54th. Coe battled back with a quick goal from
Brandon Kostelny in the 61st minute. The Kohawks kept the game alive 10 minutes later, making it 3-2 in the 71st minute as
Isaiah Jakel scored for the second straight game. Simpson settled in an saw out the remaining 20 minutes of the half, limiting Coe to a pair of shots on target in the final 10 minutes that were both saved.

GAME FACTS
- The Storm were on top early, forcing a save from Jr. Holland in the 14th minute. The Storm struck moments later, scoring in the 15th to make it 1-0. Coe struggled to create any major chances in the first half, failing to register a shot on target in five attempts. The hosts doubled the lead just before the halftime whistle, making it 2-0 in the 42nd minute. Simpson made it 3-0 in the opening 8 minutes of the second half, scoring from a corner kick to pad the lead. Kostelny made things interesting again with his fourth goal of his freshman season, making it 3-1 in the 61st. The Kohawk charge continued as Jakel stayed hot, scoring his third goal in four games to bring Coe within one. A red card was shown to the Kohawks minutes later for the denial of a goal-scoring opportunity, putting further strain on the comeback attempt. Coe got two final chances in the 82nd and 84th minute but shots from Kostelny and Ian Kearney were saved.
