CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College men's basketball team picked up its second straight victory on Friday evening, defeating the Knox College Prairie Fire 83-70 at Kohawk Arena. Coe never trailed in the comprehensive win, taking a 3-2 lead with 18:13 in the first half which it maintained for the rest of the contest. The Kohawks built an early 11-point lead at the half, outscoring Knox 49-38 in the first period.
Bennett Sherry and
Cooper Nailor helped push the lead early in the first half, scoring 13 points each while
Jackson Bowman chipped in with eight in the opening 20 minutes. The Kohawks put the game away early in the second half, using an 18-5 run to push the lead past 20 points with 15:34 to play. Nailor finished with a team-high 22 points, shooting 8-of-11 from the floor while Sherry added 19.
Cole Hrubes was the final Kohawk to hit double-digits, scoring 14 on 4-of-7 shooting.

- Hrubes, Sherry and Nailor all influenced the early portion of the game, helping Coe to an early 12-2 lead in the first five minutes. Knox slowed the run and closed the gap to seven at the 9:22 mark, narrowly edging Coe 19-16. The Kohawks regained momentum before the halftime break, getting a 21-17 run over the closing minutes. Sherry and Bowman had six points during the run with the latter scoring four of Coe's final six points in the frame. The Kohawks continued to push the issue ini the second half, scoring 18 of the first 23 points in the frame to put the game away. Brady Klahn opened the half with a layup and kickstarted the spurt which featured four from Klahn, Hrubes and Sherry and six from Nailor.
