WAVERLY, Iowa- The Coe College men's track and field team was in action on Friday and Saturday, rounding out its indoor regular season at the Iowa Open and Wartburg's Liz Wuertz Invitational.
Lewis Kleman continued his storied run in the Kohawk indoor season, breaking his own school record in the 1 Mile race at the Iowa Open. Kleman, who has now broken a school record in each of Coe's indoor meets, defeated five athletes from Division I teams and moved up to #43 on the DIII performance list as he posted a new school record time of 4:13.07.
Chris Baker also joined Kleman with a standout performance in the weight throw on Friday, moving into fourth all-time at Coe with a new personal best toss of 16.34m. Additionally, the Coe men picked up 12 more top-ten finishes in the field loaded with DI and DII teams. Coe continued its strong performance into Saturday at Wartburg's Liz Wuertz Invite, picking up seven more top-eight finishes. Kleman again put his name into the record books with a new personal best time in the 800m, moving into sixth all-time at Coe with a mark of 1:56.17.
