CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Four Coe College wrestlers booked a spot in the NCAA DIII National Tournament on Saturday, the final day of action at the Lower Midwest Regional Championships. Will Esmoil finished off a near-perfect tournament, claiming the regional title at 165 pounds with a tech fall in the semifinals and first-period pin in the championship bout. Cade Hornback, Bryce Parke and Ty Koedam joined Esmoil as National Tournament qualifiers, each finishing third at 125, 133 and 149 respectively. Hornback bounced back from a narrow 4-2 loss in the semifinals, booking his place in the consolation finals with a 5-1 decision over Jase Van Pelt of Cornell. Coe's 125-pounder then avenged a regular-season loss in the third-place bout, pinning Wartburg's James Levy in just 1:24. Parke pulled off an incredible comeback in the consolation bracket, suffering a loss in the quarterfinals yesterday before winning four-straight matches to end the tournament. The Kohawk 133-pound man posted three-straight bonus-point decisions en route to the third-place match and then avenged his lone loss of the tournament, defeating Augustana's Trevor Boryla with a dramatic third-period pin. Koedam secured Coe's final bid to the NCAA Championships at 149, earning a 19-4 tech fall in the consolation semifinal before his second win of the tournament over nationally-ranked Axel Hernandez of Buena Vista. The four Kohawks will return to the mats for the DIII National Championship on March 15 and 16 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
