NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Coe College Wrestling team wrapped up its 2025 schedule Saturday at the loaded North Central College Invite, competing against some of the top teams and wrestlers throughout the region. The Kohawks totaled seven placers at the event, led by a second place finish from
Brody Neighbor at 133 pounds. Neighbor entered the tournament ranked seventh in the NWCA rankings and made his way to the final with a fall, tech fall and decision in the opening three rounds. He toppled fourth-ranked James Day of Wabash in the semifinal by a 5-2 decision and ultimately fell short to second-ranked Ethan Spacht in the championship bout 5-0.
Brayden Parke, ranked second in the NWCA polls, suffered his first loss of the season after a pin in the first match and a tech fall in the second, getting pinned by fifth-ranked Andrew Punzalan in a back-and-forth contest. Parke responded with a fall in the consolation semis and then shut out seventh-ranked Andrew Marchese of Castleton to claim third place.
Dresden Grimm entered the tournament ranked 13th in the national poll and showed well, placing third with five wins on the day including a pin in the third place match.
Wyatt Smith showed well at heavyweight for the Kohawks, placing third with his lone loss coming to sixth-ranked Tyler Raway. He won the third place match in style, pinning 14th-ranked Christian McChesney in the opening period.
Bo Koedam secured another top-four finish for the Kohawks at 165, earning three straight bonus-point wins before falling to number two Cooper Willis of Augsburg. He responded with a dominant tech fall in the consolation semifinals before suffering a narrow defeat to third-ranked Brayden Peet of UW-Whitewater who won with a riding time bonus.
Karter Guzman and
Kael Kurtz rounded out the placers for the Kohawks on the day, finishing sixth at 141 and 149 respectively.
