CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College baseball team picked up its ninth straight win on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the University of Dubuque 5-2 on a blustery afternoon at Daniels Park. The Kohawks fell behind early, spotting the Spartans a 2-0 lead in the second inning as starting pitcher
Ethan O'Donnell ran into trouble. The North Liberty native avoided more damage with an inning-ending strikeout and settled down throughout the rest of the contest, tossing six innings to turn in a quality start. His offense only mustered one run while he was on the bump, scoring once in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from
Jake Brosius.
Reid Rausch came up clutch later in the game, delivering a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning, putting Coe ahead for good.
Tyce Johnson entered in relief of O'Donnell in top of the seventh and worked the final three frames, getting an inning-ending double play in the seventh before cruising in the eighth and ninth.
