Tyce Johnson and an explosive day at the plate for
Mitchell Eckardt as the Kohawk second basemen tallied four RBI and five runs. Eckardt started the scoring for Coe in the first on a double steal and later hit a two-run triple in the second. Johnson, who got his first start of the year, worked four scoreless innings with five strikeouts and allowed just one hit. - Coe got back-to-back singles from Eckardt and Jon Wille to start the game. The pair opened the scoring later in the frame with a double steal, each moving up 90 feet as Eckardt scored the opener. The Koahwk second basemen added his first two RBI in the bottom of the second, delivering a clutch two-out triple to score Austin Gomez and Daniel Hawes. Wille then made it 4-0 in the next at-bat, recording his second single of the game to score Eckardt. The Kohawks extended the lead in the fourth thanks to defensive miscues from Cornell. The Rams pulled themselves back into the contest in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs with four hits and a Kohawk error. CJ Johnson entered the inning after Cornell scored four, limiting the damage with a pair of strikeouts to leave runners on the corners. The Kohawks regained their comfortable lead in the bottom of the frame, answering with four runs on three hits. Reid Rausch delivered the first two runs with a double to score Eckardt and Gomez. Jack Allison then drove home two more with a two-out single, extending the lead to 10-4. Eckardt capped off the day with a deep blast in the seventh, rocketing his second homer of the year over the right-field fence. Cornell scored the final run of the game in the top of the ninth, stringing together three straight two-out hits to make it 12-5.
