EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. - The Coe College football team wrapped up its 2024 non-conference schedule with a dramatic 43-41 double-overtime victory at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire on Saturday afternoon. Coe took an early lead, racing out with 14 unanswered points in the first quarter. The hosts began to slowly chip away at the lead, tying the game at 28 early in the fourth quarter with 14 straight points. Neither team managed to score before the end of regulation, sending the squads to overtime where both scored touchdowns on their first possessions. The Kohawks controlled the ball first in the second OT period, scoring from the one-yard line on a wild fumble recovery in the endzone. Coe went on to convert the two-point try with a pass to
Jeron Senters, taking a 43-35 lead. UW-Eau Claire managed to find the endzone on its next possession but the Coe defense held strong on the two-point try, clinching the game with an interception in the endzone.

- Mitchell Eckardt set the Kohawks up for their first scoring possession of the game, picking off a pass on UWEC's first offensive possession. Trenton Barnes was the first touchdown scorer for Coe, cashing in on the squad's second drive of the game with a 41-yard score up the middle. The Kohawks doubled their lead moments later as Chase Kruse picked off another pass, giving Coe's offense the ball again. Clay Krousie made the turnover count later in the quarter, connecting with Senters for the first of his two touchdowns to make it 14-0. The visitors stayed hot to start the second quarter, forcing a quick punt on the Blugold's first possession of the period. Krousie and the offense pushed the lead to 21 on the ensuing possession. The Kohawks went 88 yards on 15 plays and capped the drive off with a Barnes receiving touchdown, hauling in a six-yard score. Eau Claire finally found the endzone right before the end of the half, scoring from one yard out with less than 15 seconds left the second quarter. The hosts stayed hot out of the half, scoring on the opening drive with a 16-yard touchdown pass. The Kohawks slowed the momentum momentarily, answering with a quick touchdown-scoring drive as Krouse again found Senters, this time for a 15-yard strike. UWEC wasted no time and got the TD back, making it 28-21 with a 69-yard scoring drive in the final minutes of the third quarter. The momentum surge continued as UWEC tied the game early in the fourth quarter, making it 28-28 with an 11-yard touchdown pass. The remaining minutes of the quarter were mistake-ridden for each team, trading turnovers and empty drives. The Blugolds had a chance to win the game with a late field goal, but a 33-yard attempt missed and Coe forced OT. The teams traded touchdowns and extra points in the first OT period but Coe's two-point conversion to Senters set the stage for the game-winning play. UWEC drew up a trick play to try and force another OT period but Coe's defense was up to the challenge, covering every option before picking off a last-ditch effort to the end zone.
