Football shuts out Luther, scores season-high 63 points in A-R-C opener

DECORAH, Iowa - The Coe College football team rolled to a 63-0 victory in its American Rivers Conference opener on Saturday afternoon at Luther College. The Kohawks raced out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring a pair of rushing and passing touchdowns for the early advantage. Head Coach Tyler Staker went deep in his depth chart for much of the remaining game, getting contributions from various players. The Kohawks did not let their foot off the gas despite a personnel change, extending the lead to 35-0 in the second quarter before quickly making it 49-0 midway through the third. Coe added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to cap off the standout day, opening the conference season with the sixth-straight win over the Norse.

GAME FACTS
  • Coe wasted no time on its first possession, forcing the Norse to go three-and-out before taking over on its own 20. The visitors marched the field in 2:31 seconds, capping off the TD drive with a one-yard plunge for Trenton Barnes. Clay Krousie made it 14-0 on the following possession, hooking up with Cayden Schultz for a 44-yard score. Krousie used his legs for the third score of the game, scampering across the goal line from five yards out to cap off another quick-strike drive as the Kohawks went 53 yards in 1:12. Krousie capped off his shortened outing with one final touchdown pass before the end of the first quarter, hitting Will Hiserote for an 18-yard score. Quincy Drummer was the next Kohawk to find pay dirt in the second quarter, cashing in from six yards out to capitalize on short field position as Ben Adelsberger picked off a Norse pass deep in their territory. Coe regained its offensive mojo in the third quarter, scoring a quick touchdown as Brady Kelly found Jeron Senters for his lone catch of the game, a 37-yard touchdown to finish a five-play, 2:23 drive. Andrew White plunged across the goal line for the seventh score of the afternoon, making it 49-0 with five separate run plays on the drive.
