CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's tennis team wrapped up a dominant weekend at the 2025 American Rivers Conference Individual Championships Saturday, rounding out play for the fall season. The Kohawk women did work from the opening set Friday and capped off an incredible tournament with numerous medals Saturday.
Sophia Fain, Addison Leasure and
Aisha Gurung all walked away with top-flight gold medals while
Maria Bello Escobar picked up a gold in the B-Singles flight. Fain, Coe's top player and the top seed entering the tournament, defeated four opponents en route to the title. She defeated players from Luther in three straight rounds before defeating her teammate Leasure in the finals. Leasure and Gurung made it a perfect sweep of the A Flights as the pair combined to defeat Fain and
Alice Tysoe 6-3 in another all Kohawk final. Bello Escobar was unseeded in the B Singles flight and swept the competition in style, winning four matches including a 4-1, 4-0 defeat in the title match.
