GRINNELL, Iowa — The Coe College volleyball team had its three-game winning streak snapped Thursday evening, falling 3-2 at Grinnell College. The Kohawks opened the match on fire, winning the opening two sets 25-20 and 25-18. Coe outlasted Grinnell in the first set despite hitting just .054 before a dominant .343 hitting percentage in set two. The hosts fought back in the next two sets, responding with 25-23 and 27-25 wins in the third and fourth sets. Grinnell and Coe went back-and-forth in the decisive fifth set but the Pioneers came out on top, getting back-to-back points on errors from the Kohawks. Coe's attacking effort was led by
Maddie Harris with 16 kills while
Maggie Furlong was just behind with 13.
Maddy Maahs had 41 kills and two aces while defensively, Furlong had a team-high 21 digs.

- Coe used a 6-1 run midway through the opening set to take control, building a 15-10 lead which was enough to go up 1-0. The Kohawks were on fire in set two, using another 5-1 stretch to take a 19-15 advantage. Coe went on to score five of the final six points in the frame, getting two kills from Harris during the stretch. Grinnell stayed alive in the match with a third-set victory, leading 24-18 late before holding on for a 25-23 decision. Set four was back-and-forth the entire way with the teams locked at 24. Grinnell and Coe traded points to make it 25-25 but the hosts grabbed the victory with a 27-25 scoreline. The decider was also tightly contested despite an early 9-3 lead from Grinnell. The Kohawks fought back with a 12-6 spurt in the closing moments but Grinnell scored back-to-back points on errors from Coe to secure the win.
