CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Coe College volleyball team hosted the Simpson College Storm in the A-R-C tournament semi-finals Thursday evening, defeating the visitors 3-0 to advance to Saturday's conference title match. Coe, the second seed, entered the conference tournament with a bye and didn't miss a beat. The Kohawks limited the Storm to a .084 attack percentage en route to the sweep and rode the backs of
Maddie Harris and
Avery Beckett who had 13 and 12 kills respectively. Defensively, Coe had five blocks, led by
Tessa Casebolt with three assists.
Elise Blaesing and Beckett anchored the back row in the victory with 12 digs each.

COE 3 - Simpson 0
The first set would start off with both teams trading points. Kills from
Maddy Maahs and Harris early would keep the set close. Coe would finally gain some momentum in the set with a four-point run and forcing a time out from Simpson. Kills from Beckett,
Maggie Furlong and two kills from Harris would bring the first set to set point. Coe would end up taking the first set. The Storm would enter the second set jumping to a four-point lead, but the Kohawks would erase their lead and tie the second set at 10-10. Both teams would take their share of points in a close second set, with kills from Furlong and an ace from Blaesing. Simpson would take control of the set late, but the Kohawks would keep it interesting by scoring three straight and making the score 22-23. On Simpson's Set point, Coe would fight all the way back and win their second set 26-24. The third set would see the Kohawks jump to a 5-1 lead with points from Harris, including a service ace. Simpson would rally back and tie up the set 8-8. Another outstanding set from Beckett and Harris would keep the Kohawks in control and bring Coe closer to a win. A final kill from Harris would seal the victory and another sweep for the Kohawks.
