BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Coe College volleyball team saw its 2025 season come to a close Thursday in the opening round of the DIII NCAA Tournament, falling 3-0 to the UW-Whitewater Warhawks. Whitewater was in control from the opening set, edging Coe in a back-and-forth frame by a score of 25-21 to go up 1-0. The Warhawks went on to dominate the final two sets, winning 25-11 and 25-15 in the clincher. Offensively, UWW hit .371 with 44 kills while limiting Coe to 28 kills and 18 errors. The Kohawk attack was led by
Kelsey Hansel with seven kills and
Maggie Furlong and
Avery Beckett added six each.
Maddy Maahs had 23 assists and one kill while defensively,
Kelsey Hansel had 13 digs.

- Whitewater took an early 8-4 lead but Coe stormed back, ripping off four consecutive points to level the match at 8. The teams went back-and-forth in the next phase of play but a four-point string gave UWW a 15-11 advantage. Coe cut the deficit to two after a Warhawk error and a Beckett kill but Whitewater got over the line with back-to-back points for a 25-21 victory. The Warhawks dominated the second set, ripping off a 12-4 run to establish control. Coe scored two of the next three points but Whitewater didn't blink, scoring 12 of the final 17 points to go up 2-0. The Kohawks fought in the final set, trailing 11-10 after a solid start. The Warhawks pulled away with a 6-1 run, pushing their lead to 18-11 before seeing out the rest of the set.
