MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — The Coe College men's basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season Sunday afternoon at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, falling 81-72 to the Raiders. The Kohawks and Raiders were neck-and-neck in the first half, trading mini scoring runs throughout.
Jackson Bowman and
Cooper Nailor had eight points each in the first 20 minutes, keeping Coe close as the hosts led 33-32. MSOE raced out of the halftime break, scoring 17 of the first 23 points to jump ahead by double-digits. The Raiders managed the lead over the final stretch of the game, answering the call as the Kohawks tried to mount the comeback. Nailor finished with a team-high 20 points while

MSOE 81 - COE 72
- The Raiders jumped in front with a hot start, scoring eight of the first nine points before the 15-minute mark. The Kohawks responded with a 6-0 spurt in the next two minutes, cutting the deficit to one and settling in. Coe and MSOE went back-and-forth for the rest of the first half, trading short scoring spurts which included three straight 3s from Aaron Foote, Dolphin and Nailor along the way. MSOE built a four-point advantage late in the half after a layup and a 3 but five of the final seven points in the period came from Coe as the visitors cut the deficit to one at 33-32 at the half. A dominant start to the second half from the Raiders put the game in the hosts hands as MSOE ripped off a 17-6 run to go ahead 50-38. Coe fought back and managed to get within nine points at the 10-minute mark of the second but the MSOE offense did enough to keep the Kohawks at a distance for the remainder of the game, hanging on to a multi-possession lead throughout.
