Brunson sets single-season scoring record as Women's Basketball handles Nebraska Wesleyan

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe College women's basketball sophomore guard Taylor Brunson etched her name into the history books Saturday afternoon at Kohawk Arena, breaking the single-season scoring record in a 66-46 victory over the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves. Brunson is the first player in school history to score more than 490 points in a season, reaching the 494 point-mark with a 23-point effort against the P-Wolves. Brunson and the Kohawks raced out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back, taking 16-6 advantage just over six minutes in. Coe furthered its lead in the second quarter and put the game out of reach before the halftime break, leading 43-25 after 20 minutes. Brunson and the starters continued to pour it on in the third quarter and were later pulled with the Kohawks lead 59-36 early in the fourth. Coe's senior class of Molly Chmelicek, Kennedy Gordon and Ellie Wisner were honored following the game for their contributions to the Kohawk program.
