WAVERLY, Iowa – The Coe College men's track & field team concluded its 2024-25 indoor competition regular season Friday and Saturday, competing at the Iowa Open and Wartburg's Liz Wuertz Invite.
Talon Sargent made headlines at both events for the Kohawks, setting a new top-10-mark Friday at the Iowa Open in the 200m while placing fourth in the 60m Saturday. Sargent finished sixth at the Iowa Open, a field loaded with DI athletes, posting a time of 22.50, just .07 seconds behind the joint school-record holders Neil Suckow and Erik Franklin. Sargent's strong weekend continued at Wartburg in the 60m, placing fourth with a personal best time of 7.08, just shy of cracking Coe's top-10 list.
Gad Kanago, Chris Baker, Murphy Aucutt and
Jared Thoma all joined Sargent with top-eight finishes at the Iowa Open Friday, securing point scoring finishes in the 800m, weight throw, shot put and 800m respectively. Coe's Saturday action was highlighted by a pair of podium finishes from
Chris Baker in the weight throw and shot put, placing second and third to continue his impressive senior season. Aucutt finished just behind Baker with a personal best mark of 13.44m to place fourth overall.
