Baseball drops A-R-C opener at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Coe College baseball team suffered an 8-6 to the University of Dubuque Tuesday afternoon in the team's 2025 A-R-C opener. The Kohawks took an early lead, scoring the game's opening run in the first inning on an RBI single from Jack Allison. UD responded with a two-run single in the bottom of the second to take its first lead but a run in the third and two in the fifth gave Coe its lead back. Dubuque pulled one back in the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer and took the lead for good in the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits including a three-run homer to cap off the frame. Coe kept it interesting with a run in the eighth and a leadoff homer in the ninth from Ryan Brosius but the Spartans locked down the win with three straight outs. Allison had a team-high three hits to lead the offense while Mitchell Eckardt, Tyce Johnson and Austin Gomez had multi-hit efforts.
