CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team defeated DII opponent Truman State Saturday afternoon at Clark Racquet Center, knocking off the visiting Bulldogs 5-2. The Kohawk women fell behind in the match as Truman State performed well in doubles, claiming victories at number one and number three to go ahead 1-0.
Addison Leasure and
Alli Hagness combined for Coe's lone doubles success, securing a 6-4 victory at number two to salvage something for the hosts. The Kohawks responded in singles and claimed five of six matchups to pull off the comeback victory.
Sophia Fain and Leasure picked up tie break victories for Coe at number one and number two, securing 10-3 and 10-8 decisions in the deciding set.
Alice Tysoe, Maria Bello Escobar and
Carlie Miller completed comeback at number four, five and six singles, claiming victories in straight sets to cap off the afternoon.
