CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College baseball team opened its weekend series with a run-rule victory over the visiting Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves Friday afternoon, winning 11-1 in seven innings. The Kohawk offense got the party started in the second inning, erupting for six runs on three hits and a pair of Prairie Wolf errors. The teams traded runs in the bottom of the third and top of the fourth before another big inning for the hosts in the sixth, scoring four runs on three hits and two more defensive miscues.

Jack Walsh returned to the mound for the top of the seventh after continuing his dominant run, recording an easy 1, 2, 3 top of the seventh to earn his fourth win of the season.

- Thoreson walked and stole second to start Coe's second inning before Jack Allison reached on an error to put runners on the corners. Will Hosch reached on another error in the following plate appearance as Coe took the 1-0 lead. Eli Elsbecker made it 2-0 with a sharply hit ground ball down the left field line prior to a passed ball bringing home Coe's third run of the inning. Mitchell Eckardt, Jon Wille and Tyce Johnson brought home the final three runs before the end of the inning, each driving home one run to extend the lead to six. Ryan Brosius drove home Coe's next run in the bottom of the third, picking up the RBI on a fielder's choice for 7-0. Wesleyan got to Walsh in the top of the fourth with a pair of one-out hits, putting runners on the corners before a sacrifice fly got the Prairie Wolves on the board. The Kohawks put the game away in the sixth with four runs on three hits and two more errors. Tyce Johnson brought home the opening run on a bases-loaded ground ball and was followed by Thoreson who singled up the middle to make it 10-1. The final run scored on a wild pitch as Thoreson trotted home to cap off the inning. Walsh went back to work in the seventh and retired the side in order, clinching his fourth win of 2025 in dominant style.
