MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Coe College baseball team had its five-game winning streak snapped Monday evening at Cornell, falling 19-8 to the Rams in the 2025 Bremner Cup matchup. The Kohawks, who scored once in the top of the first, surrendered six runs in the bottom of the third and never managed to get back into the game. Coe responded with three runs in the top of the third inning with RBI from
Jon Wille, Jake Brosius and
Tyce Johnson but the Rams scored four in the bottom of the third to restore a comfortable lead. The hosts put the contest away in the bottom of the sixth with another explosive inning, scoring seven runs to put the game out of reach. Wille had a team-high three hits and three RBI in the game while Brosius and Johnson had two RBI each.

- Coe got started in the first inning, getting a leadoff walk before a two-out single from Johnson made it 1-0. The Rams went in order in the bottom of the inning but exploded in the second, scoring six times on five hits including back-to-back RBI hits and a three-run homer to cap off the frame. Coe quickly got back into the game with three runs in the top of the third, getting RBI hits from Wille, Brosius and Johnson but a caught stealing and pop out ended any further scoring chances. Cornell had another answer in the bottom, scoring four in response with a pair of two-out RBI singles and a bases-loaded walk to go up 10-4. The Kohawks continued to claw back in the top of the fourth with two runs, getting a bases-loaded walk from Brosius and an RBI groundout from Mitchell Eckardt who cut the lead to four at 10-6. Cornell put the game away with a run in the fourth and another explosive frame in the sixth, scoring an additional six runs to take a 17-7 lead.
