INDIANOLA, Iowa – Coe College senior thrower
Chris Baker added another title to his historic Kohawk career Saturday afternoon at the 2025 American Rivers Conference Championships, becoming the first Coe male conference champion since 2017 with a victory in the hammer throw. Baker, a two-time national qualifier and 2025 indoor national all-American, needed a big swing in his final throw, posting his winning toss of 58.22m which moved him from fourth to first. The throw is just shy of his own school record set during the 2024 season and is the 20th best throw in DIII with just under two weeks until the outdoor championships. Coe's remaining point-scoring finishes were from its relay squads, getting a sixth-place finish in the 4x100 with
Joshua Peters, Isaiah Morgan, Jabari Woodbury and
Talon Sargent posting a time of 42.78.
Ryan Hines, Talon Sargent, Isaiah Jakel and
Robert Hansen and
Isaiah Jakel, Jared Thoma, Gad Kanago and
Robert Hansen registered a pair of eighth-place finishes for the Coe men in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.
