INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Coe College men's basketball team suffered an American Rivers Conference defeat Saturday afternoon at Simpson College, falling 78-64 to the Storm. Coe controlled much of the first half, leading by a handful of possessions throughout while leading by as many as nine midway through the half. Simpson fought back before the end of the period, pulling within one with less than four minutes on the clock. Coe regained a multi-possession lead before the end of the half, getting a strong close which included a final jumper from
Ryan Dolphin to make it 42-36. Coe pushed the advantage to eight in the second as a four-point play from
Cooper Nailor gave the visitors a 48-40 lead with 17:09 to play. Simpson took control during the closing stretch of the game, grabbing a lead at the midway mark before seeing out the remainder of the win. Nailor scored a team-high 21 points, adding eight boards and six assists while
Kanyon Bryte joined him in double-digits with 17 points.

- The Kohawks went up 10-4 in the opening four minutes Bryte and Deuce Walters helped establish an early lead. Simpson drew back into the game with a quick run, taking a 13-12 lead with a run-capping 3. Coe regained its lead in the next few minutes, getting back-to-back 3s from Nailor and C. Reece Breitenbach that made it 26-17. The remainder of the first half was back-and-forth but Coe handled the final few minutes to make sure they led at the break. The Kohawks extended the advantage early in the second, scoring four straight as Nailor made it 48-40. Simpson stormed back to tie the game at 52 and quickly established a lead, making it 59-54 with five unanswered points. The Storm stretched the advantage to nine with 5:29 to play, getting back-to-back 3s fo lead 67-58. Simpson saw out the final few minutes, knocking down clutch free throws to keep Coe at a distance for the win.
