Women's Basketball Picked Second in A-R-C Coaches’ Preseason Poll

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe women's basketball team was voted to finish second in the A-R-C preseason coaches poll on Wednesday afternoon. The Kohawks earned 43 points in the poll and received two first-place finish votes as well. This comes a year after one of the best seasons in program history as the Kohawks finished second in the regular season, won the conference tournament championship, and qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2011/2012 season. Even though the Kohawks graduated last season's conference MVP, they do return two all-conference players in Audrie Helmrichs and Taryn Kravig They also return the 2024 conference MVP in Taylor Brunson, who missed last year due to injury. The roster contains a mix of eight players with game experience and a talented freshman class that should continue the recent success.

The 2026/27 season opens up with a Bremner Cup matchup at home against the Rams from Cornell (11/6). The Kohawks then make the trip to Chicago, Ill., for the Midway Classic against the University of Chicago (11/13) and Transylvania University (11/14). After Chicago, Coe makes another trip to Lake Michigan as they visit Milwaukee, Wisc., to face MSOE (11/18), before hosting two more non-conference games against College of St. Scholastica (11/22) and Westminster College (11/28). The month of December brings all road games for Coe, as they take on Monmouth College (12/7) to start the month, then face Saint Mary's University before the winter school recess. At the end of the month, the Kohawks take a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take on Dominican University (12/20) and SUNY Brockport (12/21).

The new year brings the Kohawks back home for their final non-conference matchup of the season against Carthage College (1/2) and their first conference game of the year against Loras (1/6). The next two conference matches are on the road against Simpson (1/9) and  Nebraska Wesleyan (1/13). Midmonth, the Kohawks face one of their biggest tests of the season as they take on preseason favorite Wartburg (1/16). The rest of January sees the Kohawks on the road against Central (1/20) and Buena Vista (1/23), before hosting the University of Dubuque (1/27) and Simpson (1/30) at home. In the final month of the regular season Coe finishes with its final six conference matchups, starting with Loras (2/3) on the road, followed by two home games against Nebraska Wesleyan (2/6) and the Mental Health Awareness Game against Central (2/10). The final three regular season games feature two of the preseason top three teams, beginning first with Wartburg (2/13) on the road, followed by a trip to the University of Dubuque (2/17), and finally, senior day against Buena Vista.
