INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Coe College women's wrestling team knocked out its first weekend of competition this Sunday, competing in the Simpson College Luther Hill Open. For the three freshmen and the two sophomore first-years, the Kohawks showed out with three victories and a multitude of high-scoring matches.

In the first match of Coe College women's wrestling history, Kaity Raue notched a dominant pin in 1:29 against Illinois Wesleyan's Catalina Pacheco, starting the first season on an impressive foot. Raue went 2-2 on the day, also picking up a 10-0 technical fall against Leila Wedgwood of Central.

At 145, Aubrey Loehr and Lizzy Roberts held tight matches but ultimately fell in their first two matches. In Loehr's second match of the day against Sydnie Brown of Ellsworth, the Kohawk led 7-0 headed into the second period. With a 1:44 left in the second period, Loehr led 9-8 over Brown, but fell in a quick pin from the Eagle.
