Volleyball takes down Buena Vista in five sets in Storm Lake

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team ended its American Rivers Conference regular season schedule with a victory on Tuesday evening at Buena Vista, defeating the host Beavers 3-2. The Kohawks claimed the opening set 25-22 before seeing the opposition respond with 25-16 and 25-10 decisions in the following two sets. Coe regained control in the fourth set, limiting the Beavers to just nine kills and eight errors en route to a 25-20 win to force a decisive fifth frame. BVU took the early lead at 5-2, but a seven-point string from the Kohawks flipped the set on its head and gave the visitors momentum. The Beavers fought back to even the match at 13, but back-to-back attacking errors from the Beavers gave Coe the win. The Kohawks hit just .059 in the victory but were led on offense by Mahri Kaczmarek and Morgan Beam, who each finished with 10 kills. Tessa Casebolt, Abi Bowe and Jasmine Shields rounded out a balanced effort, each posting seven kills, while Lexi Hammer and Abby Distad had 17 assists apiece.
