CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The no. 8 Coe College Wrestling team picked up a Bremner Cup-clinching victory Wednesday evening at Kohawk Arena over Cornell College, defeating the visiting Rams 32-7. The Kohawks won all but two matches in the contest, totaling four bonus-point victories and a pair of upsets.
Brayden Parke started the competition with an impressive 19-4 tech fall at 125 before a response from Cornell at 133. The Kohawks picked up back-to-back decisions to follow at 141 and 149 with a pin from
Dresden Grimm and a 10-3 win from
Ty Koedam. Cornell got its final win of the match in sudden-victory at 157 as 18th-ranked AJ Parrish barely outlasted
Zachary Montez in a tightly-contested battle. 11th-ranked
Bo Koedam recorded Coe's biggest upset win of the night, knocking off sixth-ranked Brian Petry in fairly dominant fashion as the freshman won 10-3.
Anthony Montez and
Justin Wirtz sealed the win for Coe in the next two matches, each securing bonus points in a major and tech fall performance.
Jean Ngoma recorded Coe's final ranked win of the evening at 197, earning a grueling 8-6 decision over 18th-ranked Jackson Brinker.
Wyatt Smith polished off the win at heavyweight, going the distance for an 8-3 victory to make it 32-7.
