LINCOLN, Neb. – The Coe College Wrestling team was in action for the American Rivers Conference duals Saturday, taking part in four conference matches at Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Kohawks went 3-1 overall with victories over Simpson, Luther and Nebraska Wesleyan while falling to Loras. Coe got things started with a dominant 48-3 win over Simpson, sweeping all but one match with bonus points at all nine weight classes. Ty Koedam and Bo Koedam each recorded falls against the Storm, highlighting an easy win to open the day. The Kohawks suffered their lone defeat in the second match of the day, dropping a top-10 matchup to #9 Loras 22-16. An upset win at #125 got Loras in the driver's seat but back-to-back bonus-point wins from Dresden Grimm and Ty Koedam got the Kohawks back in the match. The Duhawks answered in the closing stretch, winning four of the final six bouts to secure the win. Coe responded in another ranked matchup in the third contest of the day, winning 29-16 over 14th-ranked Luther. Brayden Parke opened with a first-period fall to set the tone before Coe secured victories at five more weights. Wyatt Smith capped the win with a crucial pin at 285, taking out his opponent in the first period in 2:08. The Kohawks wrapped up the day in style with another dominant victory, taking down the host Prairie Wolves 49-6 for win number three. Six wrestlers pinned their opponents in the win over NWU with Parke, Gavin Jensen, Ty Koedam, Bo Koedam, Jean Ngoma and Smith picking up falls.
