CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Midwest Valley Esports Conference (MVEC) season has wrapped up for the Coe College Esports Program. This spring, Coe participated in Overwatch and Smash Bros. Coe secured numerous postseason awards across both titles. In Smash Bros,
Lucas Carlson secured third team all-conference. In Overwatch,
Kincaid Foster and
Valerie Devine earned second-team all-conference. Chris Xu and
Ryan Goulding claimed first team all-conference, while Goulding also secured Rookie of the Year.
Coe's Smash Bros team finished the season 1-6, missing out on the playoffs. The Overwatch team went 6-1, taking the second seed into the playoffs that were hosted at Illinois College. Coe received a bye in the first round and then beat Buena Vista 4-0 in the semi-finals. The Kohawks had their chance in a revenge match against St. Ambrose, who was the only loss on the season. After dropping the first map, Coe rallied four maps in a row to win its third MVEC Championship in a row.
