CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College Women's Tennis team was voted as the favorites in the A-R-C coaches' preseason poll. Coe looks to continue its success and return to the NCAA tournament, as it was one step away from qualifying last season. The Kohawks return plenty of experience to the lineup, which includes reigning A-R-C MVP Sophia Fain and A-R-C Rookie of the Year Aisha Gurung, as well as three all-conference honorees in Alli Hagness, Alice Tysoe, and Addison Leasure. This season will see the introduction of new head coach Brandon Hornback. 
 
"I am excited to establish a culture of hard work, fun, and professionalism," said head coach Brandon Hornback. "We are in a position to make a charge in the regional and national rankings, and to do so we need to be focused and put in the work." As a tennis professional in the Cedar Rapids area, coach Hornback has been able to work with and coach some of the returning Kohawks, which will provide a smooth transition for the new head coach. 
 
The Kohawks will kick off the season this weekend with a non-conference road match against the Grinnell College Pioneers (8/29), last season's Midwest Conference Champions. The A-R-C schedule opens with a trip to Dubuque as the Kohawks face Loras College (9/12). Coe will be on the road for the next three conference matchups as they go on the road to face Wartburg College (9/15), then an overnight trip back-to-back days against Central College (9/18) and Simpson College (9/19). The ITA Regional Championships (9/25 - 9/26) cap off the beginning of conference matches, as the Kohawks make the trip to Gustavus College in St. Peter, Minnesota for the two-day tournament. 
 
The conference schedule continues for the Kohawks in their home opener against the University of Dubuque Spartans (9/30). They round out their conference hosting with its final two conference matches of the season against Nebraska Wesleyan University (10/2), and Buena Vista University (10/3). The Kohawks take one final trip up to Waverly as Wartburg hosts the A-R-C Individual Championships (10/9 - 10/10) to cap off the fall season.
