CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The No. 21 Coe College Football team continued its non-conference schedule Saturday afternoon at Clark Field, coming up short in a battle with defending DIII national champion and No. 5/6 UW-River Falls, 38-6. The Kohawks and Falcons played a tightly contested first quarter as
Jake Collett opened the scoring with a 29-yard field goal after Coe's defense forced an early turnover. UW-River Falls responded with a touchdown three minutes later and turned on the jets in the second quarter, scoring 17 unanswered points to take a 24-3 lead into the break. The visitors continued to click in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 38-3 with back-to-back scores. Coe managed to find three more points for the end of the contest as Collett connected on a career-long 45-yard field goal to make it 38-6. The Kohawks totaled just 14 yards on 31 carries and passed for 145 yards while surrendering seven sacks to UWRF. Defensively,
Jack Clarahan led the effort with 10 total tackles while
Samuel Beecher posted nine.

- River Falls threatened with a long drive on the first possession, moving into a goal-to-go scenario. A sack from Bryson Tidwell set up a third-and-long ahead of another sack, this time a sack-fumble as Jayden Stinson forced the turnover with a big hit on the quarterback. Coe used the turnover to open the scoring, quickly moving into UWRF territory before stalling out at the 12 and settling for Collett's first field goal. River Falls immediately responded, putting together a six-play, 75-yard scoring drive that ended with a circus touchdown catch. Coe and UWRF traded scoreless drives over the next few possessions, but the visitors started their run midway through the second, connecting on a 15-yard touchdown to lead 14-3. Coe quickly went three-and-out and set the Falcons up for another score as UWRF marched 72 yards before plunging in from three yards out. River Falls managed one more field goal before the end of the half, taking over after a short Coe drive ahead of a quick-striking drive that set up a 44-yard field goal. River Falls took over in the second for its first drive and marched down the field, putting together a 13-play, 80-yard drive that finished with a two-yard touchdown pass. The Falcons all but sealed the game on Coe's next drive as a miscue on a snap put the ball on the ground for River Falls to pounce on. The Falcons did more than pounce; they recovered it and ran it to the five before pitching it to another defender who finished off the play and ran it in for the final score of the game. Coe moved the ball into UWRF territory early in the fourth and settled for a field goal attempt on fourth and 17 as Collett smashed through a 45-yarder for a bit of consolation.
