EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. - The Coe College volleyball team finished off its weekend action at the UW-Eau Claire Sandy Schumacher Memorial tournament on Saturday, falling in a pair of non-conference matches to Edgewood and UW-Eau Claire. The Kohawks and Eagles battled back-and-forth in a five-set match, with Coe taking an early 1-0 lead before back-to-back dominant sets from Edgewood. The Kohawks claimed the fourth set 27-25 to force the decider, but a quick 4-0 start for the opponents was too much to overcome. Coe faced the host Blugolds in the final match of the weekend, spotting the hosts an early 2-0 lead as UWEC won 25-13 and 25-22. The Kohawks stayed alive with a 25-17 decision in the third set, but the Blugolds edged out a 25-23 victory in the fourth to finish the match.

Edgewood dominated the second set, building a 21-4 lead to put any doubts away. The Eagles made it two straight-set victories, taking a 6-2 lead before later extending it to 17-8. Coe continued to fight, getting within six at 22-16, but Edgewood stayed cool and took the 2-1 advantage. The Kohawks and Eagles went back-and-forth in the fourth frame as the teams were tied at 24.
