ST. PETER, Minn. – The Coe College women's tennis team was in action over the weekend at Gustavus College, taking part in the ITA Midwest Regional and the Gustie Invite. The Kohawks had six players in the ITA Singles draw, with Sophia Fain, Alli Hagness, Alice Tysoe, Aisha Gurung, Cosette Gaines, and Addison Leasure representing Coe. Leasure, Gurung, Fain, and Tysoe all picked up wins in their first matches of the tournament after receiving first-round byes, advancing to the round of 32 on Saturday. Tysoe toppled a seeded opponent in her victory, winning in comeback fashion with a 4-6, 6-0, 10-5 decision to advance. Fain also fell behind and was forced into a tiebreak set in the round of 64, securing a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 win. All four Kohawks would fall in their matches in the round of 32, but Leasure did battle to a three-set match with a nine-seed from UW-Stevens Point, ultimately falling 2-6, 6-4, 2-10. In doubles, Coe had three teams in the ITA draw: Sophia Fain / Cosette Gaines, Alice Tysoe / Alli Hagness and Addison Leasure / Aisha Gurung. The Kohawk pairings all lost their opening matches with Tysoe & Hagness coming up just short, 8-7(4). Lucille Rozeboom and Carlie Miller led Coe's efforts in the Gustie Invite, winning a pair of matches in the top draw while Miller won two matches in the fourth draw.
