DULUTH, Minn. – The Coe College men's soccer team won its first game of the 2026 season Friday evening at The College of St. Scholastica, defeating the Saints 3-1. Jonah Lasselle opened his account with a game-tying goal, pressing from the front before picking up a misplayed pass and burying it in the open net. The Kohawks scored again later in the half as
Christian Rybacki found the net for the first time with Coe, smashing a first-time volley through a crowd after an initial corner was sent to the edge of the box.
Brandon Kostelny sealed the victory for the Kohawks early in the second half, burying a penalty for his second goal of the season after Lasselle earned the spot-kick.
William Shaw played all 90 minutes for the Kohawks in goal and made five saves after conceding the early goal, picking up his first win of the season.

- The Saints scored first, using a pair of quick passes through the middle of the pitch before a slotted pass set the attacker into the box. Coe quickly answered, pressing the hosts in their own defensive third to create a turnover. Lasselle forced a poor pass from the keeper and pounced on the chance, collecting it and running through for the easy finish in the open net. Rybacki showed individual brilliance on Coe's second goal, patiently waiting for a deflected ball to arrive before burying a first-time effort across the goal and through traffic. Coe won its penalty early in the second half, playing a through pass to Lasselle who had his man beat but a poorly timed challenge gave the Kohawks the spot kick. Kostelny dispatched the chance with ease, smashing a low, powerful strike into the bottom corner to seal the win.
