Caleb Barnes joined the Kohawk staff in August of 2024 as Defensive Line coach and Special Teams Coordinator. 
           
Before arriving at Coe, Coach Barnes had 2 stints at Luther College in 2013-2017 (Linebackers/ST Coordinator) and in 2022 (Defensive Backs/ Recruiting Coordinator). Barnes also spent time at in conference opponent Nebraska Wesleyan from 2019-2021, serving as Defensive Backs Coach and Special Teams Coordinator. 
           
Other coaching stops for Barnes include Defensive Backs coach at Illinois College and serving as a graduate assistant coach at William Penn University working with the tackles and tight ends.
           
A Michigan native, Barnes earned his bachelor’s degree in communication from Alma College in 2007.  While at Alma, he played four seasons of college football as a defensive back.  He began his college career at Grand Valley State where he was a member of the NCAA II National Championship team as a wide receiver.
           
Caleb and his wife, Bethany, have one daughter, Annie.
